Job Summary

The Resident Director for Summer School Intern is considered a temporary, full-time professional staff member of the Residence Education team within University Housing. While this individual works most closely with members of the Residence Education team, they have opportunities to become involved in the operations of other units within University Housing. The intern will gain first-hand exposure to the daily complexities and challenges of departmental operations and will have the opportunity to network and understand the relationship between University Housing and other student services at the university.

Temporary employees are employed according to departmental need and the length of time will vary by workload and may not exceed 1300 hours worked in a 12-consecutive month period.

Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise and train up to 8 resident advisors
  • Conduct bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with resident advisors
  • Coordinate and facilitate a minimum of 3 staff meetings over the summer semester
  • Oversee operations of an apartment community with around 150 residential students
  • Implement a Residential Curriculum (e.g., Educational Programming) for residential students
  • Serve as an informal hearing officer adjudicating violations of the Code of Student Conduct and Residential Community Guide
  • Serve on a second-tier on-call rotation, responding to maintenance and crisis situations
  • Participate in department initiatives

Shift Specifics
  • 38 hours per week
  • Flexible with schedule of availability


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Currently Enrolled in a Master's Degree Program

  • Housing Experience


Proposed Salary

$11.00 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
