Position Description

Information Technology Services at Seattle University is committed to delivering high-touch, high-quality customer service to our faculty, staff, and students. We are seeking a results-oriented technologist with a curious mind, innovative spirit, and a dedication to fostering inclusive excellence. The Systems Engineer - Microsoft 365 will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing the Microsoft 365 environment to serve the Seattle University community. This role goes beyond technical support; it involves collaborating with campus offices and individuals to maximize the utilization of Microsoft 365 tools and services across various departments and user groups.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and other associated applications.
  • Proactively engage with campus offices and individuals to understand their needs and challenges, tailoring Microsoft 365 solutions and resources to enhance productivity and promote adoption.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and security of the Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery while addressing issues promptly.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users experiencing Microsoft 365-related issues, collaborating with vendors and other IT Services teams as necessary.
  • Respond promptly to service requests, incidents, and inquiries related to Microsoft 365 services, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Support the creation of scripts and tools to drive automation, improve processes, and enhance services, with a focus on meeting the unique needs of campus offices and individuals.
  • Stay informed about the latest updates, features, and best practices related to Microsoft 365, evaluating their potential impact on campus operations and recommending adoption strategies accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain effective documentation, both internally for ensuring business continuity and externally for facilitating system usage. Leverage vendor-provided resources effectively to supplement and enhance documentation and training efforts.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration within the IT Services team by disseminating relevant documentation and resources to support ongoing operations and user training initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity, aligned with the university's mission, vision, and values.
  • A combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Experience working with the Microsoft 365 suite and related products, coupled with excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong technical capabilities, proficiency in PowerShell scripting, and a passion for providing excellent customer service.
  • A self-starter with attention to detail, flexibility, and a desire to learn and grow.

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Teams architecture, configuration, and management, including security settings and compliance features.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft security tools Defender and Purview.
  • Possession of Microsoft 365-related certifications.
  • Experience working in higher education.

    Compensation at a Glance:

    Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000

    Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
