About the Opportunity:
The primary purpose of the Research Assistant will include executing research experiments aimed at elucidating mitochondrial functions in cells and tissues, including evaluating the intricacies of mitochondrial:nuclear communication networks. Proper record keeping, reporting to the principal investigator on results and troubleshooting are required. Novel and next generation technologies are employed in the research, and so learning new techniques and methodologies, some of which are new and unpublished, is required. Ideal candidate should be organized and able to work independently and as a part of a team.
conducting experiments, recording and analyzing data, and organizing results in a form suitable for publication. The Research Assistant will be under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dori Woods.

Responsibilities:
45% The Research Assistant will perform research under the direction of the lab director and postdoctoral research associates.

15% The Research Assistant will assist the PI and graduate students in drafting materials for new grant applications.

10% The Research Assistant will participate and present results at lab meetings and conferences.

10% The Research Assistant will prepare reports/research papers for publication and dissemination.

10% The Research Assistant is responsible for writing up research and modeling results in a format suitable for publication.

Qualifications:
The Research Assistant should have a minimum of an BS degree (or will be obtaining a BS degree by September) in Biology or related field. Motivation to learn new techniques, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
