Job Description:

Madison College is currently seeking a Bookstore Service Associate to join Bookstore Operations team. This role involves supporting the daily operations of the bookstore, overseen by the Associate Manager - Operations. As the bookstore operates at a high volume within the College, responsibilities include managing e-commerce orders and leading customer communications. Additionally, the position involves handling incoming merchandise, managing invoices, and supporting the rental program by overseeing rental renewals, maintaining bookshelves, setting up rental systems, and managing the disposal of old rental materials.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, 25 hours per week, 52 weeks per year position. Flexible working hours Monday through Friday between 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for eCommerce - creates, approves, and packs web orders to be shipped out, payment corrections.
  • Assists with receiving and invoicing for all incoming merchandise, rentals, and textbooks. Handles returns to suppliers as needed.
  • Communicates with customers and responds to customer emails and voicemails through the bookstore email account.
  • Completes rental renewals and student rental purchase requests.
  • Set-up and maintenance of bookshelves; ensure correct tags are printed, correct editions are in proper place, set-up shelf tags, collating tags, organizing books on shelves.
  • Performs textbook/rental inventory spot checks.
  • Assist with Disposition of old rental materials.
  • System set-up and maintenance for the Textbook Rental Program; set-up titles for each location for each term, establish rental periods, rental communication with staff and customers and making corrections to student rental fees.
  • Works with the Textbook Buyer to handle all grants and apprenticeship courses.
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision, and values.
  • Other duties as defined by department, college, or officials.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Skill in providing quality customer service to all customers.
  • Skill and ability to verify materials match barcodes.
  • Skill and ability to stand and move about the store to assist customers, stock shelves, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Skill in maintaining organization in work areas, retail space, and storage areas.


Minimum Requirements:
  • High School/GED or equivalent working experience. *Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position
  • Six (6) months of work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position.
  • Valid drivers license.
