Library Facilities Specialist

About the Opportunity

Looking for a position with a variety of hands-on and planning activities? Northeastern University Library seeks a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to join a dynamic academic library that is open 24/7 and is currently undergoing large scale renovations. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance, the Library Facilities Specialist will collaborate with various University departments to ensure that Snell Library is well maintained, safe and secure, and serving students, faculty and staff to its optimum capacity. This person will represent Snell Library's interests in all facilities projects and renovations, providing communication to senior library administration and staff as necessary.

The Facilities Specialist is responsible for a wide array of building activities, including coordinating the following: space planning and renovation projects, facilities maintenance, event space, signage, security, and emergency planning for Snell Library. This person will coordinate furniture arrangements for public and staff spaces, key card swipe access, and collaborate with Facilities staff regarding building maintenance and repairs.

Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree required; BA/BS preferred
  • Minimum three years facilities project experience required with work in an academic library or environment strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand architectural plans
  • Knowledge of current developments, best practices, and standards in the areas of library space planning, facilities management, emergency preparedness, and ADA compliance preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to quickly understand complex material with attention to detail and to communicate information effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise good judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with people at all levels
  • Strong computer skills, including trouble shooting and proficiency in MS Office, Teams, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, and database software
