The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa is seeking a Java Application Developer. The person in this position is responsible for the development and support of Java based applications that support the State Hygienic Laboratory (SHL)'s Newborn Screening Program. Responsibilities include development of n-Tier Java Applications, working with staff in the SHL's Newborn Screening program to gather requirements, and supporting program workflows.

This position will work closely with technical and functional partners to determine requirements and create comprehensive solutions using modern technologies. The individual in this position will be expected to enhance and support systems including the SHL's Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) OpenELIS.

This position will work alongside department senior technical staff to design, develop, implement, and support these solutions. This position is responsible for mission-critical enterprise applications and sensitive data, so attention to detail and quality are critical.
