What Are We Looking For

Baylor University is seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications to support the mission of the University in the Hankamer School of Business Communication and Marketing department.

A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, film, digital media, etc. is required along with ten years of experience and an active Christian faith. A Masters degree is preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Experience in multiple areas of the profession, such as; media relations, public relations, marketing, advertising, email marketing, publications, writing, executive communications, website/UX design and management, search engine optimization, video/audio production, digital marketing, graphic design, etc.
  • More than 4 years of experience managing professionals.
  • Proficiency in developing, budgeting, and executing integrated marketing campaigns.

All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What Will You Do
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing and communications plans that strengthen HSB's brand in the higher education marketplace, with alumni, among donors, with employers and in the minds of prospective undergrad, graduate and graduate professional students.
  • Advise and consult with the Dean and the executive leadership of HSB regarding marketing and brand strategy, market positioning and executive communications.
  • Collaborate with HSB Dean, associate deans, development, academic departments and centers to define marketing and communications objectives, strategies and priorities, and lead the marketing and communications team to develop and implement action plans that support these plans.
  • Lead team to write, edit, design and deploy a variety of media, including print, digital, video, audio, interactive, social, and others. Explore, evaluate, develop and implement new and innovative marketing approaches.
  • Sustain positive working relationships with HSB faculty and staff, peers in other University college units and the University's marketing division. Represent HSB in the University-wide Brand Council.
  • Ensure alignment with University brand standards and messaging, and collaborate with University marketing to support HSB initiatives and priorities.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and evaluate their ongoing performance. Ensure all appropriate University policies are followed.
  • Develop, track and evaluate appropriate metrics for continuous improvement and data-based decision making.
  • Supervise the performance and professional development of five (5) marketing and communication professionals.
  • Develop and be accountable for annual operating budget.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission.
  • Ability to comply with University policies.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
