Job Summary

The Director of Enterprise Networking is responsible for the strategic direction, implementation and ongoing support of all network engineering and network infrastructure to drive collaboration and productivity across the University. Critical aspects include providing leadership, guidance, standards, and people development to the entire network group across all campuses. This role requires a strong focus on strategic planning, road mapping, vendor management, documentation, asset management, improving and standardizing existing processes and technology, as well as aligning technology solutions with desired business outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership for the Networking and Telecom teams to achieve a high-performing organizational area that delivers effectively, efficiently, and reliably to business needs
  • Maintain a strong relationship with all other IT units to align solution roadmaps and resources in the interest of the overarching IT strategy
  • Collaborate with IT leaders and business units to plan network infrastructure refresh cycles that ensure uptime and reliability for the business, while capacity planning for future growth
  • Partner with IT leadership to help develop the IT budget for areas of responsibility
  • Leverage excellent time management skills to manage multiple priorities, simultaneously
  • Responsible for the architecture, roadmap, design, standardization, availability, security, and support of all network infrastructure devices and services
  • Oversee strategic planning, creation, execution, and completion of projects that align with the business needs, continuity, and growth of the University

  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, VLANs, wireless networking, and network security
  • Proficient in network design, architecture, and implementation, with a strong understanding of scalable and high-availability network solutions
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools, such as SNMP, NetFlow, Cisco DNA Center, and network performance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and best practices, including firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and vulnerability management.
  • Understanding of the technology and service needs of a large and diverse enterprise network and the evaluation of appropriate solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in mitigating IT enterprise security risks
  • Learns and adapts to new technologies and facilitates solutions for customer needs or issues
  • Remains current on technology changes to respond quickly to customer issues
