The Department of Biology, Geology, and Environmental Science (BGE) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks applicants to fill a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in Applied Freshwater Fish Biology beginning August 1, 2024.

We seek candidates who have strong potential for excellence in teaching, who can develop a robust field-based research agenda that includes students in undergraduate Biology and Environmental Science programs and our M.S. in Environmental Science program, and who will maintain and expand an established fish collection. Instruction responsibilities include teaching an introductory Environmental Science course and upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in Ichthyology and Limnology, and willingness to develop and offer other courses within the area of expertise. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with fisheries management and who will seek intradepartmental collaborations in Biology, Environmental Science, and Geology.

Required qualifications include:
  • Ph.D. in Biology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field with emphasis in Applied Freshwater Fish Biology. Individuals who are all-but-dissertation (ABD) will be considered, however, the degree must be awarded prior to the start date
