The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of nuclear receptor signaling, including PPAR and HNF4, hepatic lipid metabolism, genetic regulation of metabolism, circadian biology, epigenetic and transcriptomic data analysis, and metabolic disease research using genetically engineered mouse models and advanced genomic approaches. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include conducting independent and collaborative research on the role of nuclear receptors, including PPAR and HNF4, in hepatic lipid metabolism and metabolic disease; analyzing epigenomic and transcriptomic datasets generated from genetically engineered mouse models; investigating mechanisms underlying circadian regulation in the liver and the role of the hepatic vagus nerve in maintaining circadian rhythms; contributing to experimental design, data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and presentation of research findings; and collaborating with laboratory members on related research projects.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop advanced expertise in metabolic disease research, genomic and epigenomic data analysis, circadian biology, and nuclear receptor signaling. The position provides training and mentorship in experimental design, data interpretation, scientific communication, and collaborative research, supporting the individual's long-term career development in academic biomedical research.
