The individual will perform linguistic annotation and transcription for research projects
Job Description
The Linguistic Data Consortium supports language-related education, research and technology development by creating and sharing linguistic resources, such as data, tools and standards.
The Linguistic Annotator will work on transcribing and annotating audio recordings for use in language-based research projects at the Linguistic Data Consortium. The transcription and annotation work will be performed using specially developed web-based software tools. Training on the software will be provided, but basic computer skills are required.
Tasks include:
- Performing verbatim transcription of speech recordings and correcting transcription output from automated speech recognition systems
- Segmenting and labeling speech and text data with linguistic and research categories of interest
- Completing training in working with human subjects' data in a social/behavioral research setting
- Other duties as assigned
This is a fully remote position and individuals must have their own computer.
Minimum Qualifications: Basic computer and grammar skills required. Fluency in English language and solid knowledge of grammar is required. BA/BS degree is preferred but not required. Work is remote, and candidates will need to provide their own computer and internet connection.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
