Job Summary

This is a full-time position providing leadership and oversight for comprehensive school-based mental and behavioral health services within a Local Education Agency (LEA).The role brings clinical, programmatic, and systems-level expertise to strengthen school mental health infrastructure, ensure compliance with applicable legal, ethical, and professional standards, and support high-quality, sustainable service delivery across schools.

The lead provider will partner with LEA leadership, school teams, families, and community partners to implement evidence-based, MTSS-aligned mental and behavioral health supports that promote student wellbeing and academic success. This position will also contribute to broader program development, planning, and strategic growth across HMHI School-Based programs and potential future school partners and involves clinical supervision, consultation, direct service as needed, and systems-level leadership to advance coordinated, MTSS-aligned school mental health services.



Responsibilities
School-Based Mental Health Leadership
Serve as the lead provider supporting a Local Education Agency (LEA) and participating schools through needs assessment, consultation, training, and data-informed evaluation. Provide MTSS-aligned technical assistance across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 mental health supports. Collaborate with school and district leadership, educators, families, and community partners to strengthen sustainable, schoolwide mental health systems that promote student wellbeing and academic success.

Clinical Supervision, Training, and Capacity Building
Provide clinical supervision and consultation consistent with professional standards and licensure requirements, including supervision of psychology trainees, school-based clinicians, and related providers. Design and support professional development, coaching, and consultation for educators and related service providers. Support implementation of evidence-based practices and data-informed decision making across school settings.

Direct Clinical and Consultative Services
Provide and/or oversee direct clinical services as needed based on program and school needs, including behavior support, intervention, and crisis consultation, consistent with licensure and ethical standards. Ensure services are developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with evidence-based practices.

Documentation, Quality Assurance, and Evaluation
Review and oversee clinical and assessment documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with legal, ethical, district, and institutional requirements. Support quality assurance, progress monitoring, and continuous quality improvement processes. Assist with monitoring program deliverables and reviewing outcome and process data to ensure consistent, high-quality service provision.

Administrative, Program Development, and Systems Leadership
Support implementation, coordination, and strategic growth of school-based mental health services within the LEA and across HMHI School-Based programs. Contribute to program planning, budgeting support, and resource allocation. Support development and maintenance of partnerships with school districts, community agencies, and internal stakeholders. Assist with strategic planning for expansion into new school partners or service areas. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and leadership to address service gaps, support program sustainability, and align clinical, administrative, and data systems to support long-term growth.

Minimum Qualifications
Required
  • Ph.D or Psy.D. degree from an APA accredited graduate program in counseling, school or clinical psychology or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
  • Current licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Utah.
  • One year experience in psychotherapy, group or family therapy within a clinical setting.


Preferred
  • Experience with hospital- based psychological practices (inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and / or outpatient).
  • Experience with individual, family, and group psychotherapy; and a variety of assessment experiences including intellectual, neuropsychological, and affective/behavioral assessment.
  • Licensed for two years or more, and experience, training, or interest in providing clinical supervision to interns and residents.
  • Completion of an APA-approved doctoral internship.

Scope of practice, supervision responsibilities, and service delivery will align with the employee's licensure and professional credentials. Final role responsibilities may be adjusted to ensure compliance with Utah licensure laws, district requirements, and institutional policies.

Work Environment and Collaboration
This full-time position works closely with school and district leadership, educators, mental health providers, families, community partners, and HMHI leadership. The role requires travel to, and work in school settings.
