Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $31.91 to $55.03/hr.

Department Marketing Statement:

The HSSB Administrative Support Center (HASC) is a dynamic administrative unit that supports the academic Departments of Classics, East Asian Languages & Cultural Studies, History, and Religious Studies. HASC provides the following for our four academic departments and affiliated centers: undergraduate and graduate advising and program coordination; financial management of operational, programmatic, and research funds; academic recruitment and personnel administration; and technology support.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the HASC Director, is responsible for providing a wide range of technical helpdesk services to 100+ faculty, HASC staff, departmental learning labs, research centers, visiting research and graduate students. These services are related to the evaluation, acquisition, use, troubleshooting, maintenance and upgrade of computer hardware and software. Responds to user requests and provides solutions in a timely manner. Supports a wide range of web and database application development, including design and creation of new tools and applications. Responsible for equipment management and inventory. Participates as a member of the HASC Technology Committee.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience / training
  • WordPress CMS, Drupal CMS, HTML5/CSS design and development experience
  • Experience administering Windows and Mac operating systems, setting up and maintaining AV equipment (projectors, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Google G-Suite administration experience
  • Experience with web accessibility standards and tools such as SiteImprove

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:
  • 50% Technical Support and Consultation - Serves as contact for incoming help requests regarding hardware, software and network problems, and classroom technology issues. Works with users and departmental support staff to test and diagnose problems. To whatever extent possible, suggests solutions via phone, email or in person. Escalates problems to appropriate helpdesk when first-line support is unable to resolve problem. Provides troubleshooting support for staff, faculty, graduate students and associated researchers in their department offices and labs. Installs and configures new hardware and software. Consults with staff and faculty regarding design and implementation of technologies used in support of instruction and research and coordination with College and campus support services. Supports departmental use of administrative systems, including support of local network printing from College, campus and systemwide applications. In addition to departmental faculty and staff, responsible for the support of ten research centers and audio/visual configurations for lecturers and colloquia in HASC-supported classrooms.
  • 40% Website Management and Development - Responsible for the design, development, accessibility, and maintenance of content and functionality of approximately 20 departmental, center and area specific websites using Wordpress, Drupal, PHP, HTML/CSS, and MySQL for all HASC departments (Classics, East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies, History and Religious Studies). Provides training, guides, and assistance as needed, for posting content to department websites. Manages social media access and provides graphic design for departmental events.
  • 5% Equipment Management & Procurement - Verifies available funding, and initiates all hardware and software purchases for all HASC departments using Gateway and FlexCard. Procures both IUC and non-IUC funded computer equipment. Provides required back-up documentation to the financial support staff for all IT purchases. Looks for ways to create efficiencies and maximize budgets to benefit all supported departments. Maintains detailed records of all departmental equipment, software inventories and license agreements, and adheres to all audit regulations. Prepares, submits and maintains equipment warranty forms. Assists with completion of departmental annual equipment inventory. Prepares, submits and maintains EIMR's for disposal of old equipment.
  • 5% Research, Planning and Development - As a Member of Technology Committee, participates in long-range planning, analysis, goal and objective setting for all departmental technical planning, Assists HASC Director and Departmental Chairs in preparing and submitting annual Instructional Use of Computing (IUC) proposals & advices faculty and staff on instructional technology issues. Attends classes and seminars to increase knowledge and skills. Researches technologies to stay current with changing technology.
