The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Energy Engineering (ECEE) will be appointing a Visiting Associate Professor for the 2026-2027 Academic Year.

The department of ECEE includes 2 University Distinguished Professors, 8 endowed chairs, 36 tenure/tenure-track faculty, 7 instructional faculty, and 4 research faculty. Faculty honors include 16 IEEE Fellows, 3 members of the US National Academy of Engineering, an NSF Presidential Faculty Fellow, and 22 NSF CAREER Award recipients. The ECEE program consists of about 400 undergraduate and 480 graduate students and has averaged over $12 million in annual research grants. The department maintains close ties with local industry and national institutes/labs such as the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Primary duties will include designing and conducting laboratory research on nonlinear optics, quantum measurements, and spectroscopy with frequency combs and ultrafast lasers across the visible and ultraviolet regions of the spectrum. The candidate will carry out these duties in conjunction with the laboratory PI, postdocs, and graduate students.

What We Require
The candidate mush have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. The candidate should have 12+ years of experience in an academic environment, leading research programs and educating undergrad and graduate students. The ideal candidate will have extensive laboratory experience with optical frequency comb systems and their application to physical and chemical spectroscopy. This includes research with ultrafast lasers and high power optical amplifiers, nonlinear optics, harmonic generation, cavity enhancement, as well as the design, building and operation of complex laboratory experiments.
