The College of Music at the University of Colorado Boulder is hiring an Assistant Teaching Professor of Musical Theatre. This is a 60%-time, non-tenure track appointment, with full benefits. The initial contract will commence on August 13, 2026, end the day after commencement in May 2028, and will be eligible for reappointment.

Who We Are
The College of Music, founded in 1920, is recognized as one of the top comprehensive music schools in the country. The College of Music offers seven degree programs in over 28 fields of study, at the bachelor's level through the doctorate. Our dedicated and encouraging community of 550 degree-seeking students, 70 full-time faculty, 30 part-time faculty, and 30 professional, technical and administrative staff produces over 350 performances and numerous guest lectures, master-classes, and outreach events each year!

Since 2019, the College of Music is proud to present a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre degree. To train young singing artists who are pursuing a career in musical theatre, we offer an immersive four-year program of study in voice, acting and dance that ensures our students enter the professional theatre world with confidence. Our program is not only focused on theatre arts but also includes development of core skills that today's musical theatre artists need to be successful and well-rounded singing actors and musicians.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Duties will include teaching Musical Theatre Dance Styles 1 and Foundational Musical Theatre Styles each fall, and teaching Music Theatre Dance Styles 2 and Musical Theatre Studio (freshman level) each spring. Duties will also include serving as choreographer for one musical theatre production per semester.

Salary will be $36,000 per academic year for this 60%-time appointment.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in acting, dance or musical theatre. A combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-to-year basis.
What You Will Need
- At least two years of experience providing dance and/or musical theatre instruction in a college or university setting.
- Choreography experience of regional and national significance.
