Job Duties:
The Director of Enterprise Applications and Data Governance is responsible for overseeing the strategic management, implementation, and optimization of enterprise applications and data governance frameworks across the organization. This role ensures that systems and data processes align with institutional goals, compliance standards, and best practices in higher education technology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead the planning, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise applications to support institutional operations
  • Participate in developing data governance policies, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance
  • Drive business process improvement and documentation to enhance operational efficiency and transparency
  • Partner with Institutional Research on data analytics initiatives and data quality improvements to support informed decision-making
  • Collaborate closely with the Enrollment Office to streamline integration of enrollment technologies with enterprise systems (LMS, SIS, ERP, Office 365)
  • Manage integrations between enterprise systems and cloud-based platforms using REST APIs and SaaS concepts
  • Oversee data architecture initiatives, including data lake strategies for centralized storage and analytics
  • Provide leadership in system upgrades, vendor management, and contract negotiations
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and institutional policies related to data privacy and security
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Bachelors degree; Preferably in Management Information Systems, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Two years of prior proven experience working with Enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, Student Information System, and ensuring data integrity and quality across multiple platforms
  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years working in a higher education environment with ERP, SIS, and CRM management responsibility
  • Familiarity with database cloud migration concepts
  • Cloud infrastructure concepts, including REST API and SaaS models
  • SQL and PowerShell scripting
  • Understanding of data lake architecture and data governance principles
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements such as FERPA and GDPR

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Masters degree in Information Systems or related discipline preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems and student information systems in higher education preferred
  • Experience with SaaS products preferred
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools and data analytics platforms preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment

WORK CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position, such as standing and/or sitting, for a prolonged period of time
  • Ability to adjust or move objects up to 25 pounds in all directions
  • The person in this role will frequently communicate with team members, management, and external partners for collaboration and to exchange information
  • Frequently performs tasks that use repeating motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Requires the use of computers and standard office equipment

Located in historic Athens, Alabama, Athens State University offers junior and senior-level coursework to community college graduates and transfer students holding sufficient credits from other institutions.
