Location

Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information

The Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education fosters a healthier tomorrow by preparing the next generation of committed, compassionate professionals in interprofessional areas of health. Through engaged learning and innovative applied research, we address the multifaceted determinants of health and wellness for individuals, populations, and global communities.

Our undergraduate programs in Integrated Health Sciences, Public Health, and Health and Physical Activity Leadership (including Health & Physical Education Teacher Certification and Coaching) equip students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences to pursue impactful careers or advanced studies in a wide range of health-related disciplines. We also offer graduate coursework in the growing field of mHealth.

Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Health Promotion and Physical Education in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education with a preferred start date of August 2026. The area of concentration includes coaching, health and physical education teacher certification, and interdisciplinary health and physical activity leadership. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching undergraduate courses in the Health and Physical Activity Leadership program including the Coaching Concentration and/or Health and Physical Education Teacher Certification Concentration
  • Service to Dept/College/University/professional community is expected.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Health and Physical Education or a closely related discipline is required at the time of hire.


OR
  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in a non-related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline is required at the time of hire.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to teach classes in Advanced Coaching Methods. Experience as a coach at the high school varsity level or higher.
  • Certified Health and Physical Education Teacher with interests in Early Childhood Physical Education and Adapted PE
  • Ability to contribute to program leadership
  • Record of teaching undergraduate courses
