About RISE:
The SUCCESS Fund (Supporting Urgent Community College Equity through Student Services) was created in 2021 specifically for Massachusetts community colleges to invest in wraparound supports and services using models proven to strengthen outcomes for students facing systemic barriers. An innovative collaboration among the 15 Massachusetts Community Colleges, the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges (MACC), and the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (DHE), SUCCESS programs are designed to improve outcomes for the colleges' most underserved populations.
RISE promotes and increases college completion through student programming, academic scholarship, and career development that supports a culturally and educationally diverse student body.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Part-Time Assistant Coordinator of RISE Student Activities will promote a climate of engagement, celebration, and pride among students in the RISE program at NSCC. Through programming, cultural celebrations, and special projects/programs, the Part-Time Assistant Coordinator of RISE Student Activities will advance RISE's goals and will support RISE students as they achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals.
The ideal candidate will show and articulate a commitment to working with diverse populations of students and will be passionate about supporting students traditionally marginalized within the US education system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and foster a sense of community and pride among RISE students, which includes but is not limited to, Black, Latine, and Queer students, and students with disabilities;
- Collaborate with staff to implement a robust calendar of social/cultural programs and events that meet the needs of the current student population, including welcome activities, passive programs, social engagement events, summer programming, and trips/tickets;
- Oversee marketing and promotion for RISE events, RISE newsletter, and RISE social media/communications;
- Serve as primary NSCC representative for on and off campus RISE programming
- Ensure that all on and off-campus programming is in compliance with college policy & procedure;
- Contribute to related campus-wide celebrations such as Black History Month, Latine History Month, RISE Graduation, Lavender Grad, Black & Latinx Grad, etc.;
- Organize formal and informal advisory sessions to gather student input/feedback on programming and it inform future developments in programming;
- Engage in campus-based programming such as orientation, professional development, open house, etc.;
- Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or closely related field; with two (2) years' experience and/or training that includes student activity planning/coordination, leadership development, or interpersonal relations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- A highly collaborative and flexible approach to program development and delivery.
- Effective presentation, writing and communication skills; and experience with emerging technologies and effectively leveraging social media.
- A highly collaborative and flexible approach, along with both 'big picture" thinking and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with faculty, students, & staff
- Effective presentation, writing and communication skills; and experience with emerging technologies and effectively leveraging social media.
- Strong leadership skills and knowledge of leadership development programming.
- Ability to work periodic nights and weekends, as needed.
- Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sensitivity and commitment to building an inclusive campus environment
- Experience working with minoritized, first-generation, and low-income students
- Experience or interest in the community college setting
- Proficient in conversational Spanish or Haitian Creole
