Job Description:
What We Are Looking For
The Retention Specialist will the charged with providing academic advising services to freshmen/sophomore participants, preparing initial course schedules and liaising with advisors in the major. They will also coordinate services with success center programs and other departments to ensure integrated and proactive academic support to participants and document eligibility, academic performance, and services provided to participant. The Retention Specialist will assist in coordinating the program exit interviews and follow up with non-returnees and provide intensive academic coaching services for freshmen/sophomore participants.
A Bachelor's Degree and one year of relevant work experience is required. A Master's Degree and three years of relevant work experience is preferred.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Prepare and update advising materials and degree plans
- Maintain relationships with University constituents
- Assist in planning and developing advising support services
- Ensure a high level of confidentiality
- Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
- Ability to comply with University policies
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Assist students in developing educational plans, selecting academic courses, discussing academic progress, and documenting advising contacts
- Connect with financial resources
- Provide information on University resources available to students
- Assist new students with learning about advised majors and programs offered
- coordinate services with success center programs and other departments to ensure integrated and proactive academic support to participants
- Document eligibility, academic performance, and services provided to participant.
- Will assist in coordinating the program exit interviews and follow up with non-returnees and provide intensive academic coaching services for freshmen/sophomore participants.
