Warehouse Manager

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, manages the day-to-day University Surplus and Salvage Department (Surplus) operations. Manages internal and external customer service, staff management and financial operations. Works with the surplus team to manage the collection, transportation, e-waste, and other recycling streams of property received at Surplus. Prepare financial reports and budgets. Manages the sales office and the receiving / dispatch office. Responsible for posting online sales. Manages the inventory of property received, sold, recycled, or discarded, including reports associated with the property. Responsible for content on the website and manages marketing endeavors. Recommends facility maintenance and database improvements. Manages store organization of sales floor or outside areas where property is stored. Make recommendations to improve the surplus operations. Assists in developing policies and procedures for the surplus program. Complete other tasks as assigned by management or supervisors.

Responsibilities
Manage the receiving, handling, storing, picking, packing, returns, and shipping activities within the warehouse. Ensure completion of all warehouse processes. Oversee the storage and distribution operations of products and materials. Plan, develop, and implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities. First-level manager. Manages the activities of supervisors and/or individual contributors. Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Broad knowledge of the field with demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Ensures compliance with Federal, State of Utah, local laws and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Develops and implements customer service, staffing and financial objectives for assigned departments consistent with the University's goals and objectives.
  • Directs department's budgets, estimates budgetary requirements for special projects and oversees purchases, sales and inventory.
  • Implements and administers new and existing department programs and services to internal and external customers. Evaluates program effectiveness. Ensure that internal and external customers' needs are met.
  • Oversee department staff management including recruitment, performance evaluations and retention of staff.
  • Serves as part of the University Surplus and Salvage management team overseeing all aspects of the department.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through.


Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

A valid Utah Drivers License required.

The ability to move heavy objects required. Frequent physical exertion such as lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, standing for long periods of time, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, climbing or crawling.

The successful completion of a criminal background check and drug test required.

Preferences
A clean driving record preferred.
