Assistant/Associate/Professor (Clinical) - (Clinical) Track, Career-line Position
The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at the University of Utah invites applications for a full-time, 1.0 FTE, (Clinical) Track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor, depending on experience. This faculty member will teach in the Hybrid Pathway of the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and serve as Associate Director of Clinical Education (ADCE). This position is remote, though periodic travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as travel for clinical education site visits, is required. The faculty member will have two primary responsibilities:
1.Course Instruction - Delivering high-quality education in a hybrid format. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in online/hybrid teaching and innovative instructional strategies. The University of Utah DPT program employs a teaching team model to ensure consistency and excellence across both the residential and hybrid pathways. Faculty are expected to demonstrate content expertise, collaborate effectively with colleagues, and contribute to an innovative learning environment.
2.Clinical Education Oversight - Assisting in the coordination and administration of clinical education. Working in collaboration with the current Director of Clinical Education (DCE), responsibilities include:
- Overseeing clinical site contracts and placements
- Evaluating student and Clinical Instructor performance during clinical experiences
- Providing student and Clinical Instructor support as needed
- Coordinating and completing faculty visits to clinical sites
- Assigning grades for clinical education coursework
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in online/hybrid teaching and innovative instructional methodologies
- Prior experience mentoring physical therapy students in clinical education settings
- Experience in site coordination of clinical education
- Leadership experience at the state or national level in clinical education or professional associations
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service

The Department is home to three different degree offerings (a DPT Program with 3 pathways, a PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, a MAT Program) and post-professional Physical Therapy Residencies. The Department focuses on health care provider education and rehabilitation research and has successful collaborations across the University to support these missions. Collaborative entities include the Academy of Health Sciences Educators, the Craig H. Nielsen Rehabilitation Hospital, the University Orthopedic Center, the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Medical Center, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, among others. The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is located within the College of Health and is part of the University of Utah Health Sciences Center. The Health Sciences Center is the major educational, research and referral facility serving the medical needs of Utah and the Intermountain West. The Center includes the Colleges of Health, Nursing and Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, School of Medicine, University Hospitals and Clinics, the Health Sciences Library and related core facilities. In addition to in- house facilities, the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training is near Primary Children's Medical Center, the Intermountain Shriner's Hospital, and Intermountain Medical Center.
