DESCRIPTION


Mendocino-Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a Short-Term, Non-Continuing Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) Program Specialist to work in our Physical Therapy Assistant Program.

This is a temporary, non-continuing position. This position is open until filled. The anticipated assignment duration is 8/1/25 - 12/30/25.

Under the general direction of appropriate supervisor, provides administrative assistance and office support; serves as liaison between administrator and the faculty, staff, students, and public; coordinates and performs specialized technical tasks; provides budget and other recordkeeping and reporting.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a Short-Term Non-Continuing (STNC), temporary, hourly position, 20-30 hours per week, $25.90 per hour; Ed Code 88003 authorizes a governing board to hire STNC employees for less than 75% of a school year, up to 180 days.

Benefits: The College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee.

Paid Time Off: The successful candidate will earn forty (40) hours of sick leave per fiscal year.

Retirement: This position may be eligible for CalPERS Retirement (contingent upon number of hours worked within the fiscal years.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The successful candidate will support student success and equal access by executing the following duties:
  • Assists with administrative matters; organizes office activities; maintains and monitors schedules related to Physical Therapy assistant (PTA) office functions; independently performs a wide variety of duties which support the functions assigned to the department; coordinates activities/events;
  • Assists the Program Directors and appropriate supervisor in coordinating program specific student activities on and off campus for PTA or associated programs; including but not limited to student on-boarding, orientations, presentations, program activities, ceremonies, and promotional events;
  • Reviews student program applications and transcripts;
  • Provides input and support on development of department specific procedures and protocols;
  • Supports students, staff, and faculty in identifying and accessing program resources;
  • Supports appropriate dean in scheduling and processing faculty evaluations;
  • Facilitates community and district partnership to access and promote PTA Program offerings, including marketing and outreach activities;
  • Organizes annual Mendocino College employee PTA evaluation event;
  • Serves as liaison between the administrator and faculty, staff, students and the public; establishes and maintains positive staff and public relations; maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion;
  • Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls, referring to others as appropriate; takes and forwards messages;
  • Provides information and assistance regarding District programs, policies, procedures, rules and regulations; resolves questions and issues; interprets and applies rules and regulations as appropriate; assists students, staff, and others with the completion of forms and documents;
  • Prepares and maintains complex documents, reports, databases; and communications.
  • Verifies, inputs, records, and compiles a wide variety of information and data for reports and other purposes; develops spreadsheets, databases and other electronic information/documents; including MIS reporting and District student information systems (i.e. Colleague).
  • May maintain information on the college website and associated social media;
  • Assists in the preparation of a variety of annual program review and division budget requests; performs budget recordkeeping and monitors expenditures;
  • Prepares, creates, and monitors personnel action forms (PAFs), budget requisitions, and purchase orders for department;
  • Prepares, reviews, maintains and distributes a wide variety of reports, forms, applications, lists, instructional materials, requisitions, schedules, fliers, calendars, manuals, handbooks, announcements, handouts and other documents; assures that information is accurate and district policies and procedures are met.
  • Composes and prepares correspondence, arranges and schedules meetings and appointments;
  • Makes travel arrangements; prepares agenda items for meetings; takes and transcribes meeting notes; distributes to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains records and files; establishes and maintains filing systems; orders, receives and maintains an inventory of office supplies and other materials; opens and distributes mail.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment including computers and related Microsoft Office software, calculator, copier, etc. and others specific to the department.
  • Trains and provides work direction to others as assigned; attends meetings and workshops as directed;
  • Attends related meetings and workshops; performs other program duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS:
The following physical and mental standards are identified as necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. However, reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Mobility: frequent sitting for long periods; frequent walking and standing; occasional reaching above and below desk level; frequent balancing on varied surfaces.

Resource Center environment; subject to interruptions and distractions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must meet Human Resources guidelines for qualified hiring; including by not limited to a Live Scan background check and completion of TB test.

Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: Associate's Degree
Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree

PREFERRED ABILITY:
Bilingual (Spanish)

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:
This classification requires the use of a personal vehicle while conducting District business. Must possess a valid (Class C) California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires travel to other District campuses and area community organizations. Position may be required to travel locally to pick up event related materials. May be required to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
