Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $115,000.00 Annually
Maximum $125,000.00 Annually

Job Summary
WesternU seeks a motivated and highly organized Strategic Philanthropy Director to provide essential support for its comprehensive fundraising campaign activities in Oregon. Reporting to the Senior Director, Campaign Architecture and Strategy, this individual will play a key role in donor stewardship, event support, volunteer management, historical documentation, and administrative support. A primary responsibility includes operating a stewardship society for planned giving donors. It requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic campaign environment. This is a full-time position based in the State of Oregon and may require some travel as well as some evening and weekend work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities:
  • 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, volunteer coordination, event planning, or administrative support, preferably within a higher education setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with donors, volunteers, staff, faculty, and vendors.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Work, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with donor databases or CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, Raisers Edge, Bloomerang) is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Experience working with volunteers is a plus.
  • Interest in or experience with archival practices, historical research, or institutional history documentation is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and willingness to travel within Oregon as needed for tours, events, and meetings.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events as required.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in related area. Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience. Excellent written, oral and presentation skills required. Successful professional experience, preferably at an institution of higher education or nonprofit organization.
