Job Description
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center is seeking a Neuroscience Research Technician 1 in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology. Under direct supervision, this position performs research experiments directly related to NIH-funded projects on schizophrenia and addiction. The goal of the laboratory is to gain a deeper understanding of the neural circuits underlying motivation disruptions in schizophrenia and addiction. The lab employs modern neuroscience techniques including neural circuit manipulation, neurophysiology, animal behavior, and pharmacology.
Responsibilities
- Aids in daily lab functioning.
- Prepares chemical solutions.
- Maintains and genotype genetically modified mouse lines.
- Performs stereotaxic survival surgeries on mice.
- Runs behavioral experiments in mice.
- Collects, analyzes, and publishes data.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (Bachelor's Degree preferred.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of college coursework in science; OR two (2) years of laboratory experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate, listen, and follow directions.
- Ability to participate in on-the-job training.
