Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Applications & Integrations

Required Degree/Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Bachelor's Degree. Nine (9) years of full-time increasingly complex IT management and leadership experience. Experience with leading and managing enterprise resource planning (ERP). Experience overseeing projects.

Preferred Degree/Qualifications:
Advanced Degree. Experience working in higher education. Demonstrated experience with leading and managing software, as well as Cloud based applications. Experience with providing enterprise data analytics infrastructure services. Experience with successfully managing large teams, complex projects and budgets.

Brief Description of Duties/Primary Purpose:
As key player reporting directly to the VP/CIO, the incumbent acts as a VP in the absence of the CIO in strategic leadership and guidance at the executive level in critical areas of these positions' portfolio. This includes assisting the CIO by chairing or participating in meetings. Direct, plan and implement strategic and tactical enterprise IT initiatives under their purview, focusing on cost effectiveness, efficiency and service quality. Serve as a point of escalation for key issues, leading overall strategic planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, deployment and management of current and future transformative technology projects in the positions' portfolio. The Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Applications and Integrations serves as a member of the Division of Information Technology's (DoIT) Senior Leadership Team which is charged with providing strategic direction and priorities for the Division. Managing, coaching, and mentoring employees is essential for this role. The AVP will need to collaborate, and establish credibility and relationships with senior leadership, colleagues, and customers.

Essential Duties:
  • Determine, formulate and administer management policies and practices for providing critical campus-wide student information, human resources, financial services, and research administration support services. Serve on essential University-wide IT policy-making, proposing and planning committees. On behalf the CIO lead overall strategic planning for their portfolio. Oversight of executive level projects (current and future technology projects). Provide guidance and influence to resolve operational challenges: silos, breakdown communication and high level project prioritization. Champion innovation, change and collaboration. Direct change; provide leadership and strategic direction to the various functional teams to improve processes. Drive collaboration across the Division, stakeholders and senior level management. Partner with key stakeholders and employees to build and implement a culture that drives change and promotes development. Support the Division's growth, while progressively challenging and rethinking business processes. Drive and oversee the execution of key initiatives to improve operations, service quality and operation effectiveness. Develop and articulate tactical and strategic plans to the executive. Oversee the EAI team responsible for strategy, software engineering, and maintenance for University enterprise wide applications and services, to include the development, configuration, design and implementation of new applications and changes to existing systems and software packages. Oversee the planning and execution of all aspects of complex application implementations, maintenance, development and enhancements. Ensure project teams are managing multiple project teams supporting all aspects of core University administrative software applications. Oversee the development of operational procedures related to the deployment of applications. Develop and implement appropriate professional development and training programs for direct reports. Ensure all employees in this position's portfolio have development and training plans.
  • Build consensus among a large number of diverse colleagues, executive leadership and outside agencies to address and resolve issues. Provide vision and strategic direction in the areas within this position's portfolio. Participate in strategic planning and development of annual goals and objectives for DoIT, with special attention to providing leadership for those related to the areas within this position's portfolio. Serve as a member of the DoIT Senior Leadership Team to work toward the achievement of division goals and objectives. Oversee the development of University-wide Information Technology strategic initiative planning and implementation with other DoIT leadership staff. Once the plan is in place, continue to review it on an annual basis and, as needed, discuss changes to ensure its coherence with the overall campus strategic plan. Ensure delivery of a suite of highly aligned services including superior customer experience and support for external and internal customers
  • Oversee the budgets, with responsibility for projecting, developing, administering, and reconciling the budgets consistent with campus and organizational goals. Provide annual operating plan including annual budget. Provide multi-year budgets that include staffing plans in concert with key IT initiatives and strategies, identify systems and technical capabilities transitioning during an application life cycle. The incumbent will have signatory authority and the ability to apply for external funding to support innovative programs as needed.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in internal and external professional activities, such as an author, committee member, search chair, meeting or conference presenter, staying abreast of emerging developments within the fields.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and department mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
