Job Description:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Enterprise Data and AI will lead and oversee the strategic direction and operational execution of the University's enterprise data and AI initiatives. This role will be responsible for formulating and implementing strategies related to data access, governance, reporting, and analysis, ensuring that the University's data assets are leveraged effectively and securely. The AVP will oversee the data and AI team, including engineers and data scientists.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for enterprise data and generative AI that aligns with the University's goals and objectives.
  • Lead the creation of policies and procedures for data governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Drive innovation in data access, reporting, and analysis to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency across the University.
  • Oversee generative AI technologies' integration and application to support operational and academic functions.



Team Management:
  • Manage and mentor a multidisciplinary team, including data engineers and data scientists.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages professional growth and continuous learning.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure the successful execution of projects and initiatives.

Operational Excellence:
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data infrastructure, including data warehouses, lakes, and pipelines.
  • Implement advanced analytics and AI models to derive actionable insights and support predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Monitor and report on the performance and impact of data and AI initiatives, making necessary adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, academic departments, and administrative units to understand their data needs and priorities.
  • Act as a liaison between the data, AI teams, and other University stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and alignment.
  • Promote data literacy and the effective use of data and AI tools across the University community.
