Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs computer programming activities as assigned to fulfill programming requests, resolve problem reports, and respond to help desk calls. Prepares detailed specifications from which programs can be written. Under general direction, designs new systems and resolves complex problems. Applies good technical knowledge to work.

  • Performs programming and analysis activities as assigned to fulfill project requests, resolve problem reports, and respond to help desk calls.
  • This includes investigation, coding, testing, updating documentation, and preparation for implementation.
  • Receives assignments verbally or written.
  • In some cases, the specifications may be brief and they will be required to use their system knowledge and analysis experience to complete the task.
  • Communicates with users and external vendors as needed for project requests and problem reports.
  • Keeps supervisors informed of work progress.
  • Provides high level technical knowledge to resolve application problems in the production environment.
  • Applies technical knowledge to work.
  • Serves as a resource when needed.
  • Prepares detailed specifications from which programs can be written.
  • Assists project leader as directed.
  • As requested, learn and become proficient in new technologies (examples are, but not limited to programming languages, software, applications, etc.).
  • On call 24 hours a day to resolve application problems that affect the production environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field required.
      • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
    • Experience
      • Four years Crystal programming experience and/or SQL or similar experience required.
      • Familiar with Microsoft Office products required.
      • Will be required to work on multiple projects at a time.
      • Five years Crystal programming experience, SQL, Sharepoint, asp.net, C#, and/or Visual Studio or similar experience preferred.
      • Familiar with Ellucian Colleague, Business Objects and/or learning management systems preferred.




    • PCs, and MS Office.
    • Pleasant office, varied working hours at odd times.
    • This position requires a background check and drug screen.


    • Pay Grade:
      Classified 13 Salary Factor 125 Hiring Range: $ 69,000.00 - 72,000.00

      Competitive starting salaries are dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
