Job Description:
Function and Scope
Reporting to the Vice President of Information Technology Services and CIO, this position will manage the day-to-day IT operations, manage infrastructure as well as manage the external technology vendor relationship which supports the IT services the RF provides. The incumbent will also play a crucial role in the analysis, design, implementation, deployment, and operations of our security and hardware/software systems.
Duties
The Associate Director of Information Technology Operations, Infrastructure & Security duties include but are not limited to:
- Develop strategic direction by participating in planning processes to align technology investments with current and future business objectives.
- Maximize effectiveness and minimize costs related to enterprise-wide IT operations. Develop and encourage strong collaborative working relationships with campus, SUNY, and RF stakeholders to ensure technology solutions support business needs.
- Oversee the daily operations of the IT Operations team to ensure the availability, reliability, and security of mission-critical business applications including Cloud and On-Prem infrastructure (storage, virtualization, servers, communication systems, Networks - LAN, WAN, VPN, Firewalls, and applications), security configuration, backup administration, service level monitoring, system and performance monitoring, and incident management.
- Architect infrastructure to meet high availability and redundancy of mission-critical business applications.
- Manage IT vendor(s) procurement and inventory of hardware (computers, servers, network equipment, etc.) and warranty renewal.
- Manage IT vendor(s) and IT Operation team to ensure a high level of customer service is provided to key stakeholders in all areas of user technology services including, but not limited to, computer hardware and software needs, network support, disaster recovery, training and documentation, data center services, email, phone system, data-voice-video communications, workstation and printer services, and service desk requests.
- Partner with the Information Security team to implement, assess and operationalize information security controls.
- Organize and lead the disaster recovery testing and planning as it pertains to technical systems.
- Collaborate and manage relationships with DBA Operations, Business Analysts and Development teams, and external technology vendors to achieve high-performing IT teams.
- Manage budget and costs of technology pass-through costs, data centers, and other IT infrastructure.
- Provide after hours and weekend support as needed.
Requirements:
Education/Experience/Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or management or business-related field with 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in IT operations, security, and support. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Experience in IT Service Management (ITSM) and Vendor Management is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with teams across the entire organization.
- Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
- Experience in effectively and proactively addressing security gaps/risks.
- Experience in Vendor Management and Stakeholder engagement.
- Experience drafting RFPs and evaluating proposals related to ITS solicitations and actively participating in vendor negotiations.
- Demonstrates Understanding of Network architect, IP Routing Protocols & Cisco configuration.
- ITIL certification.
- Experience with security regulations like NIST, SOC2 Type2, and HIPAA.
- 5 years experience in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in managing IT outsourcing, and service level agreements (SLA).
Compensation for this position: The starting compensation for this role is between $125,952 to $159,775. The starting pay will depend on a variety of factors that may include but are not limited to experience, education, training, and certifications.
