Area Coordinator



University Housing at Coastal Carolina University seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Area Coordinator reporting to an Assistant Director for Resident Success. This is a 12-month, full time, live-in, professional staff position with on-call responsibilities. University Housing has experienced exciting and rapid growth over recent years. University Housing is home to more than 4600 students.



The Area Coordinator (AC) for Resident Success is responsible for the development and promotion of community engagement and residential education at Coastal Carolina University. The AC is responsible for the creation of a positive community between 600-1000 residents focused on resident safety and success in collaboration with other University Housing and Coastal Carolina University staff and faculty.





Duties include, but are not limited to: Duties include, but are not limited to: overseeing the day-to-day operations of assigned residential communities; facilitating resident engagement and academic initiatives; facility and occupancy management; overseeing and coordinating crisis response; purchasing; and leading and participating in department and university-wide collateral responsibilities and initiatives. The Area Coordinator also serves in a 24/7 administrator on-call and support staff rotation with a minimum response time expectation. There may also be opportunities to participate in and lead committees, teach the FYE course (UNIV 110), and advise student organizations.



Requirements:
A master's degree and minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience and related professional experience are required. Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable three (3) year driving record. Five (5) or more years of housing or higher education professional experience and prior direct supervision of student staff, response to student behavioral issues including crises, facility and occupancy management, fiscal management, and co-curricular programming based in student development theory and practice are preferred.

Student Services Program Manager I (CB75/61122769/FTE-S00766P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 06. Salary range is $45,530.00 (minimum) to $64,885.00 (midpoint). Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Must be able to work evenings and weekends during peak times of the year and able to respond to on-campus crisis and emergencies within 30 minutes. Able to attend overnight conferences and drive state vehicles transporting staff and students for work functions, including students attending regional and national conferences. Physically able to maneuver through communities, including up/downstairs in communities without elevators. Considered "essential personnel" and required to participate in campus-wide emergencies such as weather and structural emergencies.





Required Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Able to apply student development theory in everyday practice, promote academic success and social justice within a community, and familiarity with residential facilities. Competence in primary computer applications, social media, database management, and attention to detail in administrative responsibilities. Knowledge of best practices in living learning program implementation and assessment.
