What you will be doing

The Information Technology Department has an opening for a Director, Enterprise Architecture.

The role provides strategic oversight, development, and evolution of the technology road map for deploying the next generation of solutions, tools, platforms, and frameworks - all in the service of our core vision - good food, thriving communities and a healthy planet.

• Lead architecture for platform modernization and refinement including adoption of containerization, serverless, IOT and ML technologies in cloud and at edge locations.
• Provide architecture & technology leadership for building and deploying applications across multiple public clouds including full end to end automation of all components.

The successful candidate should possess the technical acumen and managerial experience to lead a team that includes high-potential architects and engineers. The position requires a strategic leadership approach, exceptional leadership skills, and strong cross-team and cross-functional collaboration skills. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work with executives, technology peers, key business partners, technical staff, and external partners. We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills, who has a strong bias for innovation and out-of-the-box thinking, loves solving complex problems, and thrives in our high energy, fast paced environment.

This position will be based in Dallas TX and Pleasanton CA.

Main responsibilities

• Should be able to lead a team of enterprise architects overseeing multiple technologies.
• Should be able to work with multiple portfolio teams, verticals across the enterprise from development teams to Directors and VPs.
• Provide technical oversight to the development process including reviewing the technical design and the deployment architecture.
• Develop & evangelize the reference architecture & patterns that will be used across the organization to enable standardized cloud solutions.
• Lead the build vs buy discussion when it comes to choosing the tools, open-source technologies & platforms.
• Develop & evangelize best practices for DevOps & CI/CD, Kafka, Integration Tools, Databases, Caching, Performance, API Management.
• Knowledgeable about infrastructure, networking, security, multi-cloud resiliency architecture.
• Drive the technical roadmap of the enterprise, needs to be knowledgeable on industry trends.
• Identify and introduce new technologies, patterns that can elevate the platform across the enterprise.
• Mentor enterprise architects, solution architects and technical leads to help build effective engineering practices

What we are searching for

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 12 years of experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 10 years of experience.
• 8 years of experience in software architecture & design.
• 5 years of experience in cloud services architecture, technical design and implementations including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
• Experience in cloud computing application implementations on Azure or Google Cloud is required.
• Strong background in creating secure cloud architectures for customer facing applications that are enterprise grade and highly scalable.
• Experience with build-time dependency management (e.g. Ant, Maven); unit testing and code-coverage tools; test automation techniques and tools; and build automation tools (e.g. Jenkins,) tools is required.
• Excellent understanding of Kafka and different Integration tools, like -- MQ, IIB, DataStage etc.
• Excellent understanding of containerization & open-source tools in CI/CD.
• Excellent understanding of Docker & Kubernetes is required.
• Excellent understanding of micro-services architecture, design patterns, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale, automation, resiliency, and high availability.
• Experience in Platform and reusable components across the organization.
• Good understanding of architectural principles involved in SaaS and multi-tenant platforms.
• Knowledge of PCF, Java, Spring, Jenkins, Python/Perl is desired.
• Experience in emerging technologies like Machine Learning, voice, bots and IOT is a plus.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing, collaboration and negotiation skills
