The Technology Department has an opening for a Director of Platform to join our Cloud and Operations team. This position can be located in Pleasanton, California or Dallas, Texas.

Position Purpose

The Director of Platform is responsible for leading a team of engineers to deliver DevOps and Development platform that enhances the productivity of the developers across the development organization.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provide technology & architecture leadership across the DevOps and development platform.
• Lead a team of engineers to promote open source, consistent tools, re-usable patterns & frameworks across the organization.
• Lead effort to establish Agile and Product development model.
• Be thought leader in technology exploration, evaluation, and evangelization.
• Find common problems across the enterprise. Create frameworks & solutions to promote re-usability, to avoid redundancy & duplication.
• Introduce new technologies to support technology transformation.
• Keep an eye towards emerging technologies and explore technologies that aid Albertsons stay ahead of the competition.
• Make informed choices in build vs buy decision in technology evaluations.
• Be the go-to team for problem resolution.
• Promote best coding practices to ensure our solutions are robust, performing, secure, reusable, and maintainable.
• Evangelize emerging architecture patterns to development teams across the organization.
• Hire & retain the best talent.
• Exceptional verbal & written communication skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 10 years of experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 8 years of experience.
• 5 years of experience in leading a high performing engineering team consisting of architects & engineers.
• 5 years of experience in software architecture & design.
• Experience with micro-services architecture, design patterns, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale, automation, resiliency, high availability, and user experience
• Experience in cloud computing application implementations on AWS or Azure or Google Cloud is a required
• Experience in DevOps culture is a required.
• Excellent understanding of architectural principles involved in SaaS and multi-tenant platforms.
• Experience and knowledge of streaming technologies, NoSQL databases and cloud platforms are a plus.
• Skilled in PCF, Java, Spring, Python/Perl and C/C++ or some variation of these skills
• Good understanding of Web Technologies, UI Frameworks, AEM is a plus.
• Retail experience is a plus.
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing, collaboration and negotiation skills.
