Position Information
The City of Brentwood is now accepting applications for Technical Assistant II! This citywide classification performs a variety of specialized clerical, technical, and administrative duties to support their division while serving as a point of contact and resource for other City staff, the public and outside agencies and organizations. The City currently has an opening in the Information Systems division, but this recruitment may be used to fill all upcoming vacancies in multiple City departments as long as the eligible list is active.
Information Systems
The City of Brentwood's Finance & Information Systems department is looking for a motivated individual with strong organizational, analytical and communication skills to support the Information Systems division. The division has a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service to City staff. This position will work under the direction of the Chief Information Systems Officer and Information Systems Supervisor to assist with administrative tasks, including internal and external communications, coordinating meetings, and creating and maintaining various forms of internal documentation. This position will provide the primary support for purchasing of technology software, supplies and services, which includes maintaining equipment inventory lists and vendor contact information. The position will also work with the Information Systems team by assisting with ticket-system support requests and providing tier-1 technical support to end-users, such as password resets, general guidance on proper use of workstation equipment or assistance with the City's website. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, administrative and communication skills, have an interest in increasing their knowledge of Information System technologies and possess a solid commitment to providing a high level of customer service.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Specialized or college level course work in a professional and/or technical discipline related to area of assignment is desirable.
Experience:
Two years of responsible specialized clerical experience involving a high level of public contact comparable to a Technical Assistant I with the City of Brentwood.
License or Certificate:
Possession of an appropriate driver's license may be required.

The examination process will consist of:
Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position and to ensure all materials have been submitted.
Written Exam - Applicants possessing these requirements will be invited to take the written test. The examination will cover elements of the knowledge and abilities identified in the job description.
All applicants that pass the written test will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
