Educational Leadership and Administration faculty prepare candidates to effectively lead in educational organizations in the Central Valley of California and beyond. Our graduates serve in leadership roles in diverse educational settings such as public and private schools, colleges, universities, and other related educational agencies. We have three graduate programs: Master of Arts in Educational Leadership Administration, Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL) and the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership. Program graduates are continuously recognized as scholar-practitioners, instructional leaders, and agents of change in P-12 schools and in higher education.

The successful applicant may teach courses in the Higher Education Administration & Leadership Program, the Educational Leadership Program and/or the doctoral program in Educational Leadership. We are interested in candidates who are qualified to teach these possible courses:

    • HEAL 226: Assessment in higher education,
    • EDL 580T: Interpersonal leadership and conflict resolution,
    • EDL 580T: Professional ethics,
  • Spring 2022:
    • EAD 261: School Leadership for Equity and Improvement
    • EAD 262:Communities of Practice for Student Learning and Wellbeing
    • EAD 263: Professional Learning for Teacher Growth
    • EDL 580T: Writing in Academia
    • EDL 580T: Executive Leadership
    • HEAL 223 Students in Higher Education
    • HEAL 228 Current Issues in Higher Education
  • or other classes that may become available

Instructor Responsibility: Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Instructor are will be responsible for the preparation, delivery, conducting, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class project, and midterm and final exams.

Conditional Appointment

Please be advised that an appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and California Faculty Association. These provisions state the "Order of Work," or the order in which available courses must be assigned to faculty, starting with tenure line faculty and ending with new lecturer appointees.

Salary Range

Commensurate with experience.

Anticipated Semester

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and funding. This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary. Appointments from the pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The pool will remain in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must reapply.
  • Fall 2021: August 17, 2021 - December 22, 2021;
  • Spring 2022: January 18, 2022 - May 21, 2022;
  • Opportunities for teaching during the Summer and Winter Intersessions may also be available.

Primary instruction will be on-campus as Fresno State repopulates before Fall 2021 according to CDC guidelines. There is limited to no opportunity for online teaching.

Appointees will be required to demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States (Fresno State is not a sponsoring agency for Temporary Faculty positions).

Required Qualifications:

Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.): An earned doctorate in educational leadership or closely related discipline with an emphasis in higher education, student affairs, community college leadership, or educational leadership

Experience:
  1. Successful teaching experience working in Higher Education or P-12 educational settings.
  2. For EAD courses: California CLEAR Administrative Credential.
  3. Familiarity and willingness in CalAPA training and support.
  4. Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Successful teaching experience at the graduate level
  2. Leadership Experience within Higher Education or P-12 educational settings.
