What you will do
:

Sun Life is building out its process automation capabilities, and expanding a US-based team to identify, configure, deploy and support bots and other solutions that can automate manual tasks, improve the client experience and allow our employees to focus on higher-value activities.
Sun Life is seeking an experienced Senior Robotics Automation Developer.

The successful candidate will join a high-performing team in delivering and supporting robotic process automations. Reporting to the Associate Director, Process Automation, the Senior Developer will be accountable for building new automation projects, creating prototypes, and enhancing and trouble-shooting new and deployed bots.

The Senior Developer is a member of the Robotics & Digital Enablement team within US Group Benefits Client Services. The role is responsible for helping to deliver agile process automation solutions across the US businesses, using a variety of tools and technologies.

Main Accountabilities:
  • Provide programming expertise in the analysis, design, and development of robotics automation applications
  • Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written and design, code, test, debug and document programs
  • Provide technical leadership for small to medium-scale projects
  • Provide technical support to Systems Analysts to ensure that project deliverables are met with high quality / low-defect builds
  • Provide technical consulting support on project or system issues
  • Develop in-depth understanding of core business processes and user needs
  • Identify conflicting business practices and integration issues, suggesting alternative solutions
  • Participate in business and IT project estimation activities
  • Help mentor new developers
  • Monitor and stay abreast of technological and operational changes that affect the activities and work processes of the organization

    What you will need to succeed:
  • An entrepreneurial mindset focused on providing business solutions that deliver concrete value to end users and clients
  • The ability to understand and optimize end-to-end business processes and user needs through targeted automations
  • Ability to work with ease across the organization from users, IT, partners and vendors
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to mentor and provide guidance to new developers
  • Eagerness to tackle new challenges, devise creative solutions, and learn new tools and technologies
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people
  • Experience within the insurance industry would be an asset
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Some project work may be required outside of regular office hours to support critical time lines and deliverables, as well as collaboration with Sun Life teams in other region

  • Required Education and Skills:
  • Bachelor Degree, Computer Science
  • 5+ years of IT experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing robotics automation solutions
  • Experience & certifications working with Pega Robotics, UI Path, Blue Prism or other larger vendor robotics automation vendor software platforms is required
  • Knowledge of .Net / Visual Studio required
  • Knowledge of C#, JavaScript, SQL highly desired
  • Knowledge of MS SQL, Oracle, Web-services desired
  • Agile Scrum certified
  • Knowledge of Lean process improvement practices
