About the Opportunity:
The Computational Optics and Translational Imaging (COTI) Lab at Northeastern University is looking for a Scientific Programmer to join our NIH-funded project developing next-generation neuroimaging data standards and platforms. We are seeking candidates with strong experience in C/C++/Python/Perl programming and web application development including HTML/JavaScript/databases. The Scientific Programmer will have the opportunity to interact with a large neuroimaging user community and will be responsible for training and coordinating between a list of prominent neuroimaging software projects.

Responsibilities:
As the Scientific Programmer for the COTI Lab, the role and responsibilities include contributing to an NIH-funded open-source project aimed at developing next-generation neuroimaging data sharing platforms and open-standards (http://openjdata.org). The programmer is expected to develop, improve, and maintain high quality JSON/binary JSON based data file parsers, NoSQL databases, libraries, and utilities, and integrate them with other open-source neuroimaging tools. This position will have the opportunity to directly interact with a large and diverse neuroimaging community of users and toolbox developers, prepare training programs, write papers and documentation, and collaborate with user-initiated projects. The Scientific Programmer will co-supervise graduate students and collaborate with computer scientists in the lab.

Qualifications:
This successful candidate should have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other relevant areas, with strong hands-on experience in programming and software development. Must be proficient in programming in C/C++, Python/Perl, and JavaScript, with excellent experience in source code management, unit-testing, documentation, and other software engineering skills.Web development skills with HTML/CSS/JavaScript/databases are also required. Strong skills in scientific computing, CUDA/OpenCL programming, MATLAB/R programming, and graphical user interface (GUI) design will also be favorably considered. Proven experience in publishing and maintaining open-source projects is a major strength. Good writing and communication skills are desired. The successful candidate is expected to be highly self-motivated and can work in a collaborative environment.
