Join our team! As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

SNC's Strategic Forces (SFOR) directorate is expanding with new programs taking on challenging problems in the airborne domain. There's no shortage of interesting work; our programs range widely from UAV design/build to remote sensing/imaging/tracking systems to airborne integrations of mission systems.

This is a rare opportunity to work in a program-centric organization while operating in a central strategic role across all programs! We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join us in building our emerging directorate. The Principal Systems Engineer will work closely with the Director and Chief Engineer on strategic priorities, including upfront program shaping and capture efforts, advise and provide surge support to existing programs, and act as an all-around "free agent" as we continue to capture new programs.

The successful candidate will leverage their technical knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas to accomplish the aforementioned tasks:
  • Radio Frequency end-to-end analysis and integration of COTS systems
  • Remote sensing, with design, integration, and operation experience in mid-wave infrared (MWIR) imaging systems
  • Detecting and Tracking AI/ML algorithms for moving and stationary objects (systems engineering, performance assessment, practical application; not expected to develop algorithms)
  • UAV/autonomous drone design, integration, build and test
  • Systems Engineering design for Mission system software (Open Mission System (OMS), moving map, radio control, touchscreen UI/UX, point/track/route/weather, sensor integration, and control)


We are looking for a candidate experienced in at least one of the above-listed industry domains. We don't expect an applicant to have experience in all or even most of the above-listed industry domains and welcome the opportunity to fit the role to a specific applicant's skillset.

Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Advanced understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
  • Leadership experience in systems engineering roles. Effective communication to lower level engineers Effective communication to executive management Effective communication and relationship building with DoD customers Concept development and refinement early in program shaping lifecycle Competitive proposals

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated capability in requirements management and system modeling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, and MATLAB.
  • Advanced Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, including, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
  • Progressive experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high-impact trade studies and other measures
  • Ability to establish and track key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $159,430.15 - $219,216.46

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
