IT Vendor Management Specialist

Result of Service
The consultant should contribute to the increased maturity of the PMO, standardizing and clearly defining the approach for vendor, change and programme management, that is better aligned with business needs.

Work Location
The position is based in NY, however the functions can be performed remotely. Candidates from outside the USA are encouraged to apply.

Expected duration
The project should take a total of 5 months from 01 December 2020 (or as soon as possible) to 30 April 2021.

Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer, the consultant will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Develop a strengthened framework, aligned with both UN and industry standards and best practices, for vendor management capability in alignment with the strategic and operational objectives of the technology organization and the business. Establish internal policies, standards and processes for vendor interaction and review.
  • Create dashboard for vendor / contract management to classify and rationalize the vendor portfolio (incl. categorizing strategic vendors), track contract key dates and metrics (incl. expiration, renewals, amounts, spend), and track performance and risk metrics.
  • Create templates for vendor /contract performance management: improve existing template by ensuring that the metrics used to evaluate performance are properly tied to business outcomes and bias-free and also includes infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business continuity requirements.
  • Create templates for vendor / contract risk management: improve vendor risk assessments and risk registers in cooperation with infrastructure, cybersecurity, business continuity and compliance teams.
  • Assess, advise and undertake the maintenance/enhancement of tools for use in vendor management, including vendor tracking, analytics and performance management tools (scorecards and dashboards).
  • Create and maintain training and performance evaluation materials, provide training and resources tailored to OIM needs, for resources assigned to Vendor Management activities.
  • Review, assess and provide expert advice to improve the Change Management terms of reference, processes and templates.
  • Review, assess and provide expert advice to improve the Programme Management Charter, processes and templates.
  • Perform other duties as required.

    Qualifications/special skills
    Academic Qualifications: An advanced level degree is required, preferably in the area of in business administration, management, information technology or a related field.

    A certification in procurement and supply management (e.g. CIPS, CPSM, CTPE, SFIA) is highly desirable.

    A certification in programme or project management (e.g. PMP, PCAS, PMI-ACP, CAPM, CSM, CompTIA Project+, Prince2) is desirable.

    A certification in IT Service Management (e.g. ITIL, Cobit, TOGAF, BiSL) is desirable.

    Knowledge of PowerBI (or similar business intelligence tools) is desirable.
    Mastery of Excel, Word and PowerPoint tools is highly desirable.

    Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in Programme Management, including Vendor Management, is required.

    Proven experience in successfully implementing vendor / contract management policies covering vendor performance, risk, and relationship (with a strong focus on vendor / contract administration) is required.

    Experience in Project Management and Change Management, preferably in the financial industry, is desirable.

    Language: Fluency in English is required.
