HR Labor Relations Representative

The HR Labor Relations Representative acts as a business partner to management at our Fargo, ND manufacturing plant location. The ideal candidate will have a good foundation of employee and labor relations, a desire to build solid working relationships, and a passion to learn the business in order to administer the organization's labor relations policies.


Responsibilities
  • Communicates and advises Human Resource Manager, Operation Managers and Supervisors on labor relations issues.
  • Maintains positive relations by working with all levels of managers and employees
  • Advises managers on how to handle specific situations (e.g., discipline, work practice changes) and their implications in terms of labor agreements.
  • Responsible for the administration and implementation of the organizations labor relations, policies, and procedures.
  • Identifies and coordinates training needs for all levels of management.
  • Investigates unfair labor practices, facilitates, mediates workplace conflicts, and administers the collective bargaining agreement to include disciplinary actions, grievances, and arbitration preparation.
  • Participates in contract negotiations.
  • Research/Investigate current and potential labor relations issues, evaluates the impact, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Identifies labor relations problem areas or trends and recommends solutions.
  • Researches and advises compliance of all local, state, and federal laws to mitigate risk (EEO, etc.)
  • Partner with bargaining unit representatives (stewards/committee members) and individual employees to assess potential problems and improve resolution opportunities.
  • Represents organization on all Union grievances at all steps of the procedure.
  • Trains, advises, and counsels the management team on contract interpretation.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


The annual salary range for this role is $88,000-$127,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)


Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have experience with the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related field plus 3 or more years of labor and employee relations experience
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a high school diploma and 8 or more years of labor and employee/Union relations experience will be considered.

The preferred candidate will have experience with the following:
  • Prior employee relations experience in a union environment is preferred.
  • Prior HR Generalist experience in a Manufacturing facility
  • Experience with personnel administration, compensation, benefits, training and staffing preferred
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate a plant with multiple shifts
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and deal with confidential information
  • Experience working in a Lean, TPS (Toyota Production System) or World Class Manufacturing environment
  • Previous contract negotiation experience
  • Experience working in a Lean, TPS (Toyota Production System) or World Class Manufacturing environment.
