Primary Purpose of Position:
The Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic Director manages all operations of the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic, designs and teaches tax-related courses and seminars, mentors' students, administers LITC sponsored agreements and engages in community outreach and community service. The successful candidate will supervise the activities of the LITC Fellow and mentor the professional development of incumbents serving in the LITC Fellowship. He or she will hire, direct and supervise student workers assisting in running the day-to-day operations of the LITC including client intake and related matters. The LITC director will optimize available NCCU-Law human, financial and technology resources to maximize student success, community outreach and community service.
Minimum Education/Experience:
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to represent taxpayers before the State of North Carolina.
Familiarity with IRS administrative procedures and tax court rules and procedures.
Excellent case management, leadership and mentoring skills.
Energetic student-oriented and mission-centered engagement with the NCCU-Law community and its technology programs.
Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Basic computer skills; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and similar software.
Experience with software related to legal education, research platforms and tax preparation (e.g. Lexis, Westlaw, TWEN, Bloomberg BNA).
Ability to work with the community at large and a highly diverse faculty, staff and student body.
