Director, Transformation

The Technology Department has an opening for a Director of Transformation within the Cloud and Operations Group to lead several key transformation initiatives that span across the entire technology organization. Key initiatives include, but are not limited to, the training, roll out and adoption of agile and driving the multi-year program to move Albertsons to 100% public cloud. This position is located in Pleasanton, California.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Cloud Transformation

  • Lead the multi-year transformation to public cloud, ensuring all applications are migrated or retired on time and without business disruption
  • Work closely with architecture and engineering to evaluate and selectively modernize applications that meet the criteria for a higher level of investment in cloud technologies
  • Directly manage the rehost and refactor migration teams, ensuring teams are working effectively, following migration playbooks and agile best practices
  • Work with application owners to ensure compliance to company standards for architecture, information security, disaster recovery and monitoring
  • Provide workload forecasts to the FinOps organization and collaborate on cost savings opportunities
  • Provide a single source of truth for program level dependencies, schedule, progress, issues, and risks
  • Provide executive level communications via steering committee meetings, leadership updates and dashboards
  • Manage the overall program level budget across all cloud migration workstreams and active projects, ensuring accuracy of budgets, forecasts and benefits realization
  • Assess the development, operations and support teams, providing key metrics on required employee upskilling and the overall readiness of the technology organization to support the modern platform


Agile Transformation

  • Transform the current PMO organization to an agile PMO while continuing to provide PMO services, including the overall planning, budgeting and oversight of the entire Albertsons technology investment, working closely with executive leadership, engineering teams and key stakeholders to ensure business outcomes are achieved and costs are managed within acceptable thresholds
  • Lead the transformation to scaled agile across engineering and operations, including people, process and tools
  • Partner with the Chief Product Officer to stand up a Lean Agile Center of Excellence to provide expert knowledge and best practices for product and agile
  • Build relationships with engineering teams and key stakeholders to ensure ongoing feedback during the transition
  • Develop and execute the roadmap for moving capabilities from legacy project management tools to agile tools
  • Create the overall change communication plan and provide frequent updates to leadership and internal customers
  • Evaluate the impact of agile on the technology organization, identifying key personas for training, developing training journeys and tracking required training through to completion


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree or equivalent IT work experience
  • 10+ years in a program, portfolio or management role with responsibilities spanning many interdependent projects
  • Previous experience with retail companies is a plus
  • Experience with cloud migrations, agile transformations and M&A is a plus
  • Previous experience in finance or accounting is a plus
  • Experience managing budgets > $100M is a plus
  • Experience in managing a large organization is a plus
  • Experience working with a variety of project management tools and methodologies is a plus, including MS Project, Jira, Confluence, SAFe
  • Must have strong leadership presence, possess superior problem-solving skills, be action-oriented and decisive
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the big picture, translate it to the teams and drive excitement about change
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and proactively manage risk to the program
  • Ability to effectively articulate and present complex concepts, ideas and strategies to senior leadership
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure to balance competing priorities
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills
  • Extensive creativity, drive, high energy level, and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, coach, counsel, and train team members to high performance
