About the Opportunity:
The Director for LEADERs Partnership Relations will work as part of a small team to define, develop, and implement a strategic partner engagement strategy to secure partnership sponsorships that engage PhD students pursuing the Experiential PhD Leadership Certificate.

Responsibilities:
The Director is expected to develop relationships with regular - long-term LEADERs partners and to expand and deepen existing relationships yielding value to the LEADERs Experiential PhD Leadership program and broadly PhD students. The incumbent must have experience/understanding of research and development in industry, research laboratories, government and not-for-profit organizations with an appreciation about the drivers for resource decisions. The geographic locations that will be a focal point of this role will be initially focused in the greater Boston area with expectation of expansion to national and global industries. The Director will also partner with all relevant stakeholders across the university to ensure effective development, management, implementation, and growth of partnerships in support of PhD education. These internal stakeholders will include, but not be limited to the Department for Employee Engagement and Career Design, the Director of Career Development, the Directors of Cooperative Education and/or their co-op faculty designees, the Associate Deans for Graduate Education and Research, and all other key, partner-facing entities/individuals that can assist in the facilitation of LEADERs partner engagement opportunities required of this role. The Director will also partner with external resources as well - business associations, chambers, organizations, etc. - as a component of the strategic approach to partnered PhD education engagement activities.

Qualifications:
Minimum of ten years of combined experience in business-to-business development, corporate research and / or product development, and/or career consulting required. Exceptional relationship management skills and have produced successful & measurable results required.
  • Significant corporate experience in research, product development or technical sales.
  • Higher education experience in a role tasked with building external partnerships preferred.
  • Proven success in developing and maintaining internal and external relationships at all organizational levels is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions & competing interests. Self-directed and outcome/results oriented.
  • Demonstrated strong social media, contact relationship management, and other technical skills preferred.
  • Successful candidate must have: strong communications skills (through writing, verbal, & interpersonal); excellent customer services skills (for both internal & external audiences) and value diverse perspectives in shaping organization strategies towards achieving mutual goals.
  • Technical sales type skillset is required combined with resourcefulness and initiative enabling navigation of complex environments.
  • Master's degree required; PhD degree preferred.
