SUMMARY:

The Digital Content Creator will primarily focus on video creation and editing for an employee audience. Responsibilities include contributing creative ideas for content, maintaining equipment, troubleshooting or anticipating issues in advance, interviewing people, shooting A and B-roll footage, respectfully collaborating and communicating with diverse segments of people, knowledge of video equipment and editing software, and the insertion of closed-captioning and dynamic graphics, animation and special effects to videos. This person will also help produce college-wide live, virtual events.

Secondarily, the Digital Content Creator will help with creating and editing written content for the intranet as needed. Responsibilities include contributing ideas for content, writing using a journalistic and storytelling approach, selecting appropriate photos to accompany the writing, posting to the intranet, and editing written pieces for others.

Overall, the characteristics and skillsets needed for this role include both technical skills and skills of interacting well with people, so the right candidate will be as comfortable working autonomously as they are working in teams. Physical dexterity, creativity, patience, flexibility, energy, organization, passion and technical acumen are some of the primary characteristics needed to be successful in this role.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create interesting and engaging video and visual content for use on the intranet and on social media.
  • Using current technology, edit video content. Includes loading of the digital sequences into the computer, sorting them into order, trimming off the excess at the beginning and end of each shot, and performing post-production such as overlaying credits, foleys, transitions and other effects before outputting a completed file.
  • Create and maintain project planning documentation for video production and editing processes.
  • Write and edit content for readability, accessibility, and engagement. Adhere to Associated Press Style Guide practices.
  • Enforce branding standards and maintains ADA compliance in all video, visual and written content.
  • Operate and maintain video equipment.
  • Organize, maintain, and archive all video files.
  • Maintains a commitment to the college mission, vision and values. Comply with college policies, directives, and work rules. Engages positively with colleagues, handles conflict directly and professionally, contributes to team discussions, collaborates and helps colleagues, assumes the best from colleagues, provides and accepts constructive feedback, follows through on commitments, and supports final decisions that are made.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
  • Ability to skillfully operate, maintain, and troubleshoot video equipment to produce video content.
  • Adept at current video and audio editing techniques and software and knowledge of post-production standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of video usage and visual design and layouts on intranets and other digital assets.
  • Ability to manage time and schedules on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press Style Guide for writing and ADA regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree from an accredited institution in Digital Media, Digital Communications, Videography, or Communications AND four (4) years (8,000 hours) of related work experience directly related to the skills required for successfully performing this position


Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Digital Media, Digital Communications, Videography, or Communications
  • Journalistic writing and interviewing experience
