Computer Systems Engineer - 92002

Berkeley Lab's Computational Research Division has an exciting new opening for a Computer Systems Engineer. This position will focus on research and development of parallel programming models, runtime systems, and supercomputer interconnect technology. This position involves the design, development and maintenance of production-quality software products.

What You Will Do:

Contribute to the design and development of technical solutions for one or more projects.

Provide user support for software in one or more projects.

Maintain and periodically publish/release results of this and other work.

Investigate current interconnect architectures and the limitations and features associated with them with respect to high performance computing.

Investigate software interfaces to current interconnect architectures by implementing and studying their performance/capability.

Investigate cross-cutting issues in programming models and software support for interconnect architectures.

What is Required:

Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience preferably in a software development team environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with HPC systems programming or a related technical field.

Experience implementing the Partitioned Global Address Space (PGAS) model.

Strong coding skills, particularly in C.

Strong critical analysis and collaborative skills.

Familiarity with PGAS languages and libraries.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in developing, maintaining and releasing production-quality software.

Familiarity with current software engineering tools, including git.
