Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Advancement Talent, the Assistant Director, Advancement Talent is responsible for participating in the design, programming, curriculum development and coordination of various UA employee events to advance the University Advancement's goals in recruitment and retention. The Assistant Director will serve as the point person for UA's DEI programming and initiatives related to achieving its goals for increasing diversity across the division and will work collaboratively with central HR on these initiatives. The Assistant Director is also responsible for the design, continuous improvement, accessibility and distribution of employee and candidate information. This includes, but is not limited to, the storage of all Advancement Talent communications and the content and schedules of all learning events. As part of the Advancement Talent team, the Assistant Director participates in planning internal events for staff, and facilitates communication across the division by preparing submissions and updates for the University Advancement intranet. The Assistant Director may also be responsible for a portfolio of non-exempt and exempt open positions and will actively be pursuing a diverse population of candidates. This would entail working with the Director to establish annual diversity goals and programs and creative means by which to meet those objectives. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Advancement Talent team to maintain an environment that values diversity and promotes teamwork and mutual collaboration.

Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience and a minimum of three to five years of human resources/recruiting and training experience. Familiarity with a large, complex advancement operation in a higher educational setting is preferred. Must have an understanding of current HR policies and practices used in hiring; an ability to work effectively with a diverse constituency of outside applicants, candidates, vendors, and University staff. Must have the ability to successfully work in a university setting and have an understanding of fundraising and the skills and experience necessary to perform successfully in a university development office. Also required are excellent spoken, written and non-verbal communications skills; a solid working knowledge of PeopleSoft HR to effectively manage recruiting responsibilities, and a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel and other software, such as Visio and PowerPoint, and email and internet and intranet communications skills. Some evening and weekend work may be necessary to attend job fairs or other events.
