ideastream, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio's largest PBS, NPR, and classical radio stations, seeks an energetic and responsible individual with a "can-do" attitude to serve as our Assistant Broadcast Manager to manage the engineering operations for WVIZ, WCPN, and WCLV.
Reporting to the Broadcast Manager, the Assistant Broadcast Manager serves as the Chief Operator for each station and is responsible for Master Control, including day-to-day operation, planning, and policy adherence with compliance to Federal Communications Commission regulations always being front of mind. Additionally, the Assistant Broadcast Manager identifies and makes recommendations for ideastream's short- and long-term broadcast engineering needs. This position also manages a team of broadcast technicians and senior engineers.
Qualified candidates will be proficient in VoIP, AoIP, A/V routing and transcoding, broadcast automation, and television, radio, and audio technologies, be familiar with transmitter operations and maintenance, and will be able to juggle a variety of concurrent tasks under tight time constraints. A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, ten years of experience in broadcast engineering and/or a combined radio and TV operation, and seven to ten years of supervisory experience is preferred, though an equivalent of experience in related fields and education will be considered. ideastream is a 24/7 operation, which may require this position to work outside of normal business hours and on weekends. A valid Ohio drivers' license is also required for this position.
