Responsibilities
The Advanced Product Development Engineer is responsible for supporting the products under the CNH Crop Protection Platform. The Advanced Product Development Engineer is accountable for collaborating with the Program Manager and Global Marketing to develop product definition for products to be defined, scoped, developed, and/or enhanced to be successfully industrialized. The Advanced Product Development Engineer manages the workload, prioritization of multiple projects and/or developing and delivering on a single Advanced Engineering development project. The Advanced Product Development Engineer reduces risk through advanced design development strategies and initiatives.

Main responsibilities:

• Participates in customer visits, field unit visits, customer survey collection and evaluation to gather information to be used to develop the future product plan.
• Helps develop the product development/product plan and communicates to ensure understanding among Platform Manager, Global Marketing, and Project Engineers as to its content and scope.
• Reviews and interacts with Project and Design Engineers, PV Engineers, DAS Engineers, Mfg Engineers, Purchasing, Quality, Service and Service Parts or vendors as to what the latest "state of the art" is today in order to enhance and build upon that, or develop a different design direction, as needed, to ensure the project goals are attained.
• Collaborates, innovates, and brainstorms possible ways and means to develop and outline a product strategy to attain the goals of the company for specific product lines in our area of expertise.
• Must be able to focus in on details of a specific design and be able to keep that in context of this system, this machine, this product line, this product portfolio; must be able to view the project from all levels with an understanding of the interrelationships.
• Leads, supervises and reviews the work of project and design engineers to ensure the timely completion of specific project milestones meeting required budget, product cost, quality and machine performance requirements as documented in the product definition within the Advanced Engineering project.
• Has design responsibility for durability, reliability and functional performance of the new product update or program. Oversees development of validation plans in collaboration with Design Analysis and Product Validation teams within the Advanced Engineering project.
• Has design responsibility to ensure design is meeting all international Homologation and Safety requirements.
• Defines course of action regarding assigned project plan and schedule consistent with project and product line objectives. Collaborates with marketing, product management, manufacturing, purchasing and suppliers to ensure project plans execution.
• Identifies staffing needs and assists with making hiring decisions in cooperation with the Chief Engineer. Acquires and manages outsourced engineering resources. Works with the Chief Engineer and other managers to reallocate internal resources as required.
• Prepares data and documentation for project and milestone status for review with the chief engineer, platform manager, director and executive management team.
• Creates budgets, forecasts and capital equipment requirements with economic justifications linked to design and development activities.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering
• Minimum 8 years prior product design and development experience of Agricultural machines
• Demonstrated experience managing field problem resolution and implementation of design changes into a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated the creation and execution of innovative designs or processes that have improved fit, form, function, durability, reliability and/or unit cost.
• Previous experience collaborating with product validation (Functional & Durability)
• Current Product Problem Solving experience
• Able to work under minimal supervision
• Previous experience managing a team
• Proficiency in design analysis
• An extensive amount of independent thinking is required
• Proficiency in English
• Strong communication skills
• Able to work with facilities, customers and suppliers from various locations and cultures
• Able to travel domestic and international
